Have you ever walked into a room and completely forgotten why you were there? Or read the same paragraph three times, and it still did not stick? We have all been there, and it is one of the reasons we wanted to take a closer look at the benefits of Vimergy Brain Body Memory.
For some of us it is the occasional slip after a late night. For others, it has quietly become the norm: the afternoon brain fog, the word that sits on the tip of the tongue, the feeling that our mind is running on a low battery no matter how much coffee we drink.
The good news is that our brain is not a fixed machine. It is living tissue that is constantly rebuilding itself, and it needs the right raw materials to do that well. In this article, we look at three of those raw materials, choline, magnesium and vitamin B12, and why they come together in one of our favourite brain formulas on Clean Food Haven: Vimergy Brain Body Memory.
Brain Body Memory is a powdered brain formula with just three active ingredients, Cognizin® citicoline, magnesium glycinate and vitamin B12, and nothing else. There are no fillers, binders, added sugar, colouring or flavouring. It is vegan, kosher, gluten-free, corn-free, soy-free and non-GMO.
Vimergy describes it as a “dual-action” formula that both builds and sparks brain cells. Citicoline supplies the structure. Magnesium and B12 help that structure fire and stay energised.
Because it is a powder, there are no capsule shells or tablet binders to break down first. It also stirs easily into water, juice or a smoothie, which makes it practical for children (recommended by Vimergy for children above 4 yrs old) and for adults who struggle to swallow pills. One tub yields about 30 adult servings or 90 servings at the children’s dose.
Choline is an essential nutrient, but many people have never heard of it. Our liver makes a little, but not enough, so the rest has to come from food. The US Institute of Medicine only set its first intake recommendations for choline in 1998, which is why it still flies under the radar.
The gap between what we need and what we eat is real. The US National Institutes of Health estimates that around 90 to 95% of pregnant women in the US eat less choline than recommended, and that most prenatal vitamins contain little or none.
For those of us living with brain fog and mental fatigue. In a 2012 University of Utah study, 60 healthy women aged 40 to 60 took 250 mg or 500 mg of Cognizin citicoline, or a placebo, daily for 28 days. Both citicoline groups did better on attention tests, and the higher-dose group made significantly fewer errors than placebo. 250 mg is exactly the amount in one adult scoop of Brain Body Memory.
For older adults who are noticing their memory slipping. In a 2021 trial published in The Journal of Nutrition, 100 healthy adults aged 50 to 85 with age-related memory complaints took 500 mg of Cognizin citicoline or a placebo for 12 weeks. The citicoline group improved significantly more in episodic memory, which is our ability to remember events and the details around them. Note that this study used twice the amount in one adult scoop.
For children and teenagers who are learning and growing. The brain grows fastest in childhood, and children have their own choline needs: 250 mg a day for ages 4 to 8 and 375 mg a day for ages 9 to 13. In a 2015 study, 75 healthy adolescent boys took 250 mg or 500 mg of Cognizin citicoline daily for 28 days. Compared with placebo, they showed better attention and motor speed, with less impulsivity, and no difference in side effects.
For women preparing for pregnancy. Choline is one of the most important nutrients for a baby’s developing brain and spinal cord, and needs rise to 450 mg a day in pregnancy and 550 mg while breastfeeding. In a small Cornell University feeding study, babies whose mothers took 930 mg of choline daily in the third trimester had faster information processing speeds over their first 13 months than babies whose mothers took 480 mg. Here in Singapore, the GUSTO birth cohort has also studied choline levels in expectant mothers and their mental wellbeing during pregnancy.
The weeks and months before conception are typically the best time to build up our choline stores through eggs, soybeans and other choline-rich foods. If we are already pregnant or breastfeeding, it is best to check with our doctor before using any supplement, including this one.
If citicoline provides the bricks, magnesium and B12 keep the lights on and the wiring protected. On its own, each one is useful. Together, they help the nervous system build, fire and recover.
Magnesium is a helper in more than 300 enzyme systems, according to the US National Institutes of Health. It is needed for:
About 48% of Americans get less magnesium from food than they need, and older adults and teenagers are the most likely to fall short. Stress, coffee, alcohol and heavy sweating in a hot climate like ours can all increase how much we use up.
The form matters.
Vimergy uses magnesium glycinate, where magnesium is bound to the amino acid glycine. This form is known for being gentle on the stomach and less likely to have a laxative effect than cheaper forms like magnesium oxide. Glycine itself is a calming amino acid, so this is a form many people take for a more relaxed mind and better sleep.
B12 was discovered because of a puzzling, often fatal illness called pernicious anaemia. In the 1920s, American doctors found that patients recovered when they ate large amounts of raw liver, a discovery that earned a Nobel Prize in 1934. The active factor, vitamin B12, was finally isolated in 1948.
B12 is essential for:
Low B12 can show up as tiredness, poor concentration, low mood, and numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. These symptoms can appear even before blood counts change. Because the body stores B12, a shortfall can build up quietly over years.
Vimergy uses a blend of methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, the two active forms of B12 our body uses directly. Methylcobalamin works mainly in the fluid of the cell and in methylation. Adenosylcobalamin works inside the mitochondria, the cell’s energy factories. In the Medical Medium community, this two-form B12 is considered one of the foundations for supporting a tired, overloaded nervous system.
The groups most at risk of low B12 include
Because it combines building blocks (citicoline) with energy and nerve support (magnesium and B12), this formula fits a wide range of people in our community:
The powder is unflavoured, so it disappears easily into water, coconut water, fresh juice or a smoothie. Many people take it in the morning or early afternoon, when they need focus most. Since magnesium glycinate is also relaxing, some prefer to split the serving between morning and evening.
We suggest storing the tub in a cool, dark cupboard, away from the humidity of the kitchen sink or a sunny windowsill. This is especially important in Singapore’s climate.
Our brain works hard for us every second of every day, and it rebuilds itself from what we give it. Choline gives it the material to build. Magnesium helps it stay calm and energised. B12 protects the wiring that carries every thought.
Whether we are a mum hoping to give our future baby the best start, a parent watching our child grow, a professional pushing through brain fog, or a grandparent who wants to keep enjoying a good conversation, these are nutrients worth knowing about. Vimergy Brain Body Memory brings all three together in a clean, simple scoop, so supporting our brain becomes one less thing to think about.
